Hot Weather Warning

Please keep your critters cool during the hot weather. Guinea pigs comfort range is 65-75 degrees. At 85, they are very uncomfortable. They are more susceptible to heat than many animals and could die without some help from you. Keep them out of the direct sunlight and in a cool part of the house. They really appreciate frozen water bottles put in the cage with them, shown above.

"Fluffy" aka "Oscar"

Does this (Fluffy) look like trash to you? An alert woman was putting her trash out for garbage pickup and heard some scratching from the neighbor's trash cans. Thinking maybe a cat was scratching around, she checked it out. The scratching was coming from the inside of the trash can. This adorable piggy was abandoned in a box in the trash can with the lid on with no food or water, waiting for trash pick up. Thanks to Sharon for saving his life.
Note: He is not available for adoption at this time.

Big Boy
Big Boy is an older male Abysinnian guinea pig. He came to us with a list of medical issues, the worst one being lymphoma, which he is currently battling. He is currently being treated with chemotherapy and (knock on wood) has been doing amazingly well. As long as he responds well, we will continue treatment. He has even been seen popcorning lately, which isn't easy for a 1350 gram older piggy!
Send him your healing thoughts....
