Cavy House is run by Sue DuHamel. Sue has a B.S. degree in Animal Science from UC Davis and is a retired software engineer, concentrating now on animal rescue & care. Sue runs the boarding on her own so at times can get behind in correspondence. Please be patient. It’s fine to send a followup email if you don’t hear back.

The boarding facility is located in our home in La Honda, which is in the northern end of the Santa Cruz mountains in the San Francisco bay area. We are 25 minutes west of Redwood City and about an hour away from San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Cruz.

We started our rescue in October 2005 and rescued over 1,500 guinea pigs before ceasing rescue in 2018.

The photo of the two guinea pigs at the top of the page is of Big Boy and Rosie. Big Boy had lymphoma and was under treatment for it for over 2 years.
